There are certain types of drawings that will not benefit from scanning and working with the scanned image. An example of this is extremely poor quality original drawings. There is also the need to convert the paper/film drawings to a "CAD perfect" drawing file where the dimensions are exact. An example of this is CAD files that will drive CNC equipment used in the manufacturing process. For these requirements, the only acceptable approach is a complete CAD redrafting.
