Vector Editing on Raster

For those drawings that are not candidates for automated vectorization, a vector editing process is recommended. With this approach, the raster image of the original is used as a background and vectors are created and placed on the background. This process continues until all raster objects are converted to their vector equivalent. The raster background provides an excellent quality check to ensure all objects are converted. A variation of this approach is the placement of pre-established symbols on raster objects. Project specific symbols are put in a library and used to provide a highly standardized CAD drawing. With this approach the only editing is the line work and the text after symbols are placed on the raster background. This latter approach is ideal for wiring diagrams, block diagrams and any drawing with an extensive use of objects that repeat.
